What high-resilience foam actually means

Foam is where a cushion lives or dies, and the labels rarely help. Two numbers tell you most of what you need: density and resilience.

Density and resilience, plainly

Density is how much material is packed in — higher density lasts longer before it flattens. Resilience is how quickly the foam springs back. High-resilience foam supports without going dead under you.

  • Higher density = longer life.
  • Higher resilience = more support, less sag.
  • "Memory foam" alone tells you almost nothing.

What to ask

Look for a stated density and a resilience rating, not just a brand name. A good cushion should still feel like itself a year in.
